Night Tapes – swordsman

I’ve been getting to grips with the new Night Tapes album portals/polarities over the last few weeks, and while it hasn’t become an obsession in the way that last year’s assisted memories did, it still has its moments, one of which is the dreamily melodic swordsman. I just wish there were a few more of them.

Night Tapes – pacifico

Night Tapes boldly go where quite a few have been before, mining Souls of Mischief’s seminal classic 93 til Infinity for their latest single pacifico, the third drop from their upcoming album portals/priorities which is coming in September. It’s pretty lush.

Night Tapes – Television

I just read a review that compared Night Tapes’ latest single to Boards of Canada, and no, that’s absolute nonsense, but I’m still very happy to see new material from my favourite musical discovery of last year. Television ticks all the boxes I need it to; dreamy, nostalgic, electro-pop fare that hints towards a debut album in 2025. Fingers crossed.

Night Tapes – to be free

The latest single from my favourite new musical discovery of 2024 isn’t quite reaching the lofty heights of Assisted Memories, but the formula’s still working.

Bathe Alone – Blame Me (Night Tapes Remix)

Bathe Alone is the dreampop solo project of multi-instrumentalist Bailey Crone from Atlanta, Georgia. Bailey plays everything from drums, guitar, bass to vocals on the project and aims to create songs you can “lay on the floor and stare at the ceiling to.” I’m currently mainlining everything Night Tapes make and my critical faculties have been suspended. Is this good? I think so?

Night Tapes – easy time to be alive

Night Tapes started out as evening jams between housemates Max Doohan, Sam Richards and Iiris Vesik in London, and came to full fruition during lockdown when, like most of us, they stayed inside and tried to avoid losing their minds. Their latest EP Assisted Memories is low-key dream pop at its finest, with languid guitars, gentle rhythms and lots of haze.
